Director of Strategic Innovation & Cultural Communication
The School of Kapwa nurtures the Filipino community in London & the UK, guiding individuals toward healing, cultural reconnection & empowerment.
My role with the School of Kapwa aligns our community vision & goals through strategic planning & innovative solutions with effective communication to amplify our cultural mission.
“We are a community rooted in the Filipino indigenous value of “kapwa”, which translates to “shared identity” or “togetherness”. Kapwa is a core concept in Filipino psychology (Sikolohiyang Pilipino) that emphasises interconnectedness, mutual respect, and collective well-being. The School of Kapwa aims to cultivate these values by promoting a deeper understanding of Filipino cultural identity, traditional knowledge, and community-oriented practices.
Through the School of Kapwa, community members are encouraged to reconnect with their cultural roots, embrace indigenous wisdom, and apply these principles in their daily lives to contribute to the well-being of their communities. The school serves as a space for rediscovering our true nature and community-building, grounded in the Filipino tradition of “kapwa”.
This community can also be seen as a response to the challenges of modern society, where individualism often takes precedence over communal values. By focusing on the principles of kapwa, School of Kapwa seeks to inspire a more compassionate and interconnected way of living“.
