My installation for this year’s HIDDEN explores the loss, grief and transformation of Filipino identity through a backdrop of deconstructed forms fading out of vision and symbolic materials scattered with stories, memories and feelings. Mounted with landscapes of Manila and Mount Aryat at sunset. The piece particularly reflects on the complexities of the British born mixed second generation Filipino existence, colonisation, migration, and our dispersed Filipino diaspora. It invites the viewer to engage with themes of memory, displacement, and the ongoing struggle to reclaim and redefine our cultural heritage.
This year we celebrate 15 years of HIDDEN, an annual public exhibition that celebrates and uncovers the talents, creativity and expertise held by technical and professional services Royal College of Art staff members.
